MOVIE REVIEW | Abducted in Plain Sight

Related imageAbducted in Plain Sight is a 2017 documentary about 12-year-old Jan Broberg who was abducted from a small church-going community in 1974 by a trusted neighbour and close family friend, TWICE.

This one is a good old mind bender and at points will have you screwing up your forehead every ten minutes going WHAT THE…? It is certainly a case of what happens when evil meets gullibility.

The Brobergs and their three daughters were living a very happy life when the Berchtold family moved into their neighbourhood. The two families became best friends and they constantly spent time together to the point where Robert Berchtold became like a second father to the Broberg girls. He took a particular interest in the oldest daughter Jan and that’s when things go off the rails. What ensues is a story of manipulation and blackmail with an overarching taint of creepiness. There is palpable pain in some parts as the Broberg family lays out some very personal revelations, it is very heavy going.

If you are into true crime documentaries that will make your jaw drop from time to time, then you should add this to your Netflix queue right now.
